Avicii’s [Tim Bergling], momentum is undeniable. His industry profile – for both his productions and live shows – is rising faster than the NASDAQ. His original productions and those he re-mixes have been received with such rave reviews that you would think that is has decades of underground experience or is infinitely more vain or pretentious. Avicii’s professionalism, precession and dedication to the craft is BOTH a fresh take on the DJ-superstar position in the electronic music industry AND a breath of fresh, Swedish mountain air.
However, it may just come down to his music being one heart-stopping, throbbing, messy-good-beat after another. His live sets are dynamic, fun and most of all – exquisitely executed. Caution! If you DO complement him or his music, the answer you’ll get is something in the range of “It’s because I am Swedish.”
He’s humble, professional and down to earth. Avicii fans are quickly catching on to the fact that he means business. Avicii is currently on a world-wide tour, club-hopping extravaganza. He will be BACK IN CANADA Mid-August. [see dates on his website for Canada and the great beyond]. If you haven’t seen this Swedish wonder play live, take my advice, and check him out a.s.a.p.!
I have had the privilege of seeing Avicii play live twice already, in Windsor and Toronto, ON., but he literally plays all around the world, all the time. His schedule is as packed as his shows have been. When you finally do see him live – the hype and excitement that precedes him is beyond warranted. His demand is logical.
House-music lovers come to hear his productions; they stay and vibe with him because of his dynamic stage presence, hot set list, and giving nature. His set has just the right balance of house music staples, such as Justice and Depeche Mode, and his own productions so you feel as if you are getting it all, every time. I can’t even begin to unravel his set list, but it IS current, edgy and most importantly fun!
His rise to house music fame is well documented. But what doesn’t often make it into these articles is his professional nature and allover “Swedish coolness”. Again, if you told him any of these things he would deflect it with ‘it’s because I’m Swedish’. Chatting with him is such a delight, seeing him perform live is an earth-shattering good time. I can’t wait to see him perform again. Hopefully I will have good-fortune of seeing him play one of his many European gigs or I might keep it simple and wait for him to back Canada.
My advice to everyone who loves house music and LOVES to see a DJ perform live…is see Avicii soon, take in his HOT, humble, an amazing performance and demeanor first hand. He maybe Swedish, but Canada is clearly ready to adopt him as our own. Much love to Sweden for creating this awesome star with the golden locks that only slightly out shines his golden heart!
